It’s a warm and bright autumn morning and the sun flickering through the browning leaves reminds me of the beautiful summer we’ve had. A summer which I’ve felt reluctant to say goodbye to. But, as always, the end of one thing means the start of another. A new school year to give me some much-needed writing time - #thisbookwontwriteitself - a season where constantly applying sun cream is replaced by scented candles and snuggling up under blankets. This autumn also brings a series of Brand Identity workshops I have been looking forward to attending; The Re/Brand 1-2-3
I’ve known Franzi, Brand Identity Designer and founder of Ziska Design and Marketing, for almost a decade and over the last year and a bit I’ve had the pleasure of working with her. Today is the first time though that I am attending one of her workshops and I can’t wait.
The location she has chosen for the workshop is spot on; Kesgrave Hall. Beautiful grounds, stylish interior, superb service. A perfect match for Franzi’s high-end design work.
Today's topic is Brand Identity Essentials - How to successfully Brand or Re-Brand your business, and even though I already have a beautiful Brand Identity, designed by Franzi herself, I’m hoping to learn more about how I can make the very most of it.
And I’m not disappointed. The workshop is a mix of Franzi sharing her impressive knowledge on Brand Strategy, Brand Identity Design, Logo Systems, Typography and Colour, and interactive games and exercises to show us how great design works.
There were plenty of opportunities to ask questions, not only about the topics covered but Franzi was also happy to give tailored advice on branding and the design process.
A Great Learning Opportunity
One of the things that made this workshop so effective and enjoyable was that we didn’t just learn from Franzi, we also learned a lot from each other. The questions she asked us and the exercises we did showed us how design affects people and the choices they make. This is powerful knowledge that we can all take back to our businesses.
In just over an hour and a half Franzi provided us with the practical knowledge to take our brands to the next level.
At the end of the presentation there was time to chat to Franzi and the other delegates. Between us the businesses we represent covered photography, web design, copywriting, estate agency and more. It was great to chat with others who were either already running a successful business or who were just setting up. Plenty of business cards were exchanged and future collaborations were excitedly discussed.
How we use what we learned today will be different for all of us, but I’m pretty sure we all agree on what a great morning it was.
Thanks Franzi! I can’t wait for the next one.
Typography & Colour
Franzi’s next workshop on Typography and Colour will cover typesetting, visual dynamics and the use of colour so you can create your own eye-catching flyers and brochures.
Don't miss it!
